2012 In Review

The Board had a wonderful time greeting people at this year's Brookhaven Country Fair at Longwood Estate on September 8th & 9th.

In 2012 the GPHS observes its 30th Anniversary.

May -

The GPS and the PML hosted "On Eagles Beak". a History of the Montauk Point Lighthouse with historian Henry Osmers.

June -

Baseball fans and those who are not gathered onJune 21 to hear Eliot Knispel's nostalgic tribute "The Neighborhood of Baseball."

August -

The Carnegie Library made its way from its original location on Lake Street to the lot on West and South Streets closer to what will be its new home.

September -

At our September meeting our guest speaker, Alison Neumann, presented "The Ackerly Story." Alison, the granddaughter of the proprietor of the Ackerly Piano business spoke of her memories of her family and the family business.

October -

Our October General Meeting was held jointly with the Patchogue-Medford Library. Janet Emily Demarest, local educator and storyteller, presented "Legends of Long Island" where she entertained us with her historic storytelling, all in character!

November -

Our major fundraiser of the year took place at the Clare Rose Playhouse. This year's play "The Dinner Party" was well attended and helped raise funds for two Patchogue-Medford High School scholarships.

December -

A great time was had at our December Holiday Party where members and friends enjoyed sharing their favorite memories of holidays past!
