In the 1970s and 1980s an inventory of historically significant properties and places was conducted for much of Long Island and New York State. Completed forms were filed with NYS Parks and Recreation and may also be found at local libraries. The surveys project was not undertaken in the community of Patchogue: only parts of East Patchogue and North Patchogue were completed. More recently, properties adjacent to the Patchogue River were surveyed as part of a Patchogue River study by Long Island Traditions. These inventories are accessible online.
This is a voluntary effort by the Greater Patchogue Historical Society, the mission of which is to preserve our community's history and make it known to residents and future generations.
